Dr. Unruh was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon University in 1992, graduating summa cum laude. He went on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he received a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 1996. Dr. Unruh participated in externships at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Philadelphia and various private practice locations in Western PA.
In addition to patient care duties, Dr. Unruh, in conjunction with support staff, is responsible for Glaucoma-Cataract’s Spring Conference and Annual Golf Outing. The purpose of these events is to provide optometrists with current information in the fields of optometry and ophthalmology.
Dr. Unruh is a member of the American Optometric Association, Pennsylvania Optometric Association, Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society, and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Unruh joined Glaucoma-Cataract Consultants, Inc. in 1996. He provides patient care and serves as a liaison to the optometric community for the practice, supporting the co-management of patients between referring optometrists and Glaucoma-Cataract Consultants, Inc. Dr. Unruh is also the Ophthalmic Equipment Director for the practice.
